Core Values at VVCC
The Grace of God - God's grace through Jesus Christ is
the basis and power, not only of our personal lives, but also of our ministry.
A Commitment to God and His Word - Our aspiration is that
our ministry be marked by a wholehearted devotion to God, through prayer and by studying,
obeying and teaching His Word.
Reach Out With the Gospel - Our ultimate goal and mission
is to reach the whole world with the gospel of Jesus Christ, and to make disciples of all the
nations.
The Church - The local church is God's vehicle for
accomplishing the Great Commission. The church is the place for winning people to Christ, building them
to maturity, raising up leaders, and for preparing church planting teams to be
sent out for the expansion of God's kingdom.
Church Leadership - We place a priority upon raising up
pastors and other leaders of Christ-like character within the local church.
Love and Unity - We desire our ministry to be marked by
a Christ-like,
selfless love, loyalty, and unity with fellow believers.
Raising Godly Families - Strong families are the
foundation for strong churches. Therefore we make it a priority to equip members to have strong
marriages and families.
Every Member a Minister - All Christians are empowered
through the Holy
Spirit to be workers in the church, not just the pastors. Therefore we seek to
equip each member to utilize his/her spiritual gifts to serve others.
VVCC's Strategy
Contemporary, Relevant Worship Services
We desire to use our worship services to communicate God’s
Word in a practical, relevant way. We want to be sensitive to the unchurched by avoiding religious terminology that is unknown
or confusing. Our goal is to present
Sunday morning messages that are challenging, encouraging, and instructive to
the believer without unnecessarily alienating our unchurched guests.
We desire to make our visitors and newcomers feel welcomed at
our worship
services by providing a warm, friendly, and helpful environment. Unfortunately, some have the impression that churches are more
interested in
finances than how to encourage their faith. We purposefully avoid heavy-handed
appeals for finances in our worship
services.
People Over Programs
Programs, ministries, and
schedules at VVCC will be developed for the purpose of aiding people in their
spiritual journey. Our priority is people – not particular methods of doing
ministry. We do not want to be locked in
to a set program or formula for ministry.
If any programs or ministries are not benefiting people, they will be
changed or discontinued.
Importance of Fellowship
Fellowship is a vital dimension of the Christian life. Therefore, we encourage every member of Valley View
to actively participate in fellowship activities provided including worship
services, small group participation and meaningful one-on-one relationships
with other members.
Members as Ministers
Every member of the body of Christ has a unique contribution to make to the local church. We desire to
recruit, train, and coach the
members of VVCC in order to minister to one another, as well as those outside
the church. Because every member is a
minister, we value an approach to ministry where members are encouraged to use
their unique gifts and abilities. Two
important objectives of ministry training are 1) that each member become a
living witness of the
life changing power of Christ in their place of work, school, or social
environment, and 2) that members become effective and involved in sharing their
faith with others.
Leadership Development
The task of believers
involves taking the Gospel to all nations. A key factor to the furtherance of
the Gospel is leadership development.
Being involved in a volunteer ministry provides opportunity for training and
mentoring.
Through a variety of leadership development opportunities, VVCC seeks to
reproduce competent leaders for ministry.
Our Leadership
Our leadership at VVCC is staff
managed with governing board protection. The day-to-day operation of the church is the
responsibility of the staff and lay ministry team, but VVCC is governed by a
board of trustees responsible for approving the annual church budget, overseeing
church doctrine
and establishing ministry goals. The VVCC staff and ministry team focus
on ways to accomplish board-approved goals. Final authority for governing the
church goes to the church elders, and congregational input concerning church
leadership is always important. Our congregation is involved on many levels
including our lay ministry team, focus groups and advisory meetings.
A copy of VVCC's governing board manual is available upon request from the
church office. You can also get information about VVCC on
our affiliation page.
